that's one of those turbo myths. actually, you'll have to change the supercharger belt every 10k miles. on a turbo setup, you'll just be changing the oil at normal intervals.
turbo can be very streetable with a properly sized turbo for your application and a good boost controller. the boost controller will help build boost down low, making it very streetable.
i've owned turbo cars for a while before i moved to the states, and i havent had one problem... just dont get boost happy, upgrade your fuel system properly, and change your oil religiously, and you'll be just fine.
