I think it's something to do with my camera & the fact that the front of the hood slopes down- it doesn't seem to pick up all the weave pattern -I'll have to try it with the camera on a HQ setting a some time and see if it makes a difference.

I thought it was just the camera. I have had that happen to be when photographing real cars with CF hoods.
