Re: Ford guy finds Lamborghini?

I have nothing against buying or building a kit car. I get asked often if my cars are kits. That is when I open the hood and eliminate any doubts.

However, If you shop around and are patient, you can find some early Diablos well under $ 100K. I have seen a few in the low $70Ks. Look on Ebay, they are out there. The flip side is seeing completed kit cars running well into the same price ranges. Countach's can be found in the low $ 50Ks.

One big problem area on any exotic car is the cost of ownership. Parts, service and insurance can be expensive, so just because you own a highend car, does not mean you can afford to drive it. The kitcars fit this niche very well. You have the look but not all the headaches.

I agree, if you want the look, go for it. Just don't expect to be able to sell it for the same kind of money down the road.

When I did govt work, we used to call it the Gucci Syndrome = "Tis better to look good than to be good"
