It stands for Variable Valve Timing Electronic Lift Control. It's a system of cams and valves that pretty much give the extra boost to the engine when needed. It usually kicks in around 5k rpm's with a very slight kick and from there on your in a powerband of power. Oh and it's spelled vtec!
