Jamie Shaw here. About your problem. It seems that you have two:
First: Your oxygen sensors have went out. Tell me this, have you noticed a power difference when you step on the gas around 20-25 mph? Your car will run okay other than that. If you don't drive like a mad person, then you'll be fine. If you go and have it checked out and it says "Catalytic Converter Below Threshold (Bank whatever)" or something like that, it's your O2 sensors.
Second: About the anti-theft thing. I would recommend jus buying an aftermarket alarm system. We sell them on our website:

Also, have you tried to open your trunk using the trunk button located by the drivers kick panel? Let me guess, won't open? This has happened to alot of 99-02 Cougar owners.
