You normally can but I didn't plan on using either (boost or Nos) so I raised my compression up by shaving head, port & polish, etc....I daily drive and use my car for AutoX and all motor is the best set up (i think).
Plus main reason peeps do lsvtec set up is because of the extra torque the ls crank/rod (stroke) creates...if you plan on doing boost or other forced induction on your motor...I suggest just building a stock motor to withstand the boost you plan on doing...i.e. forged pistons, sleeved block etc...
