91 Cavalier dash light problems

My girlfriends owns a 91 Cavalier RS (2.2 L 4cyl.)

I do most of the work on it but I'm no electrician. The dash lights went out along with the headlight chime (ie; when you leave them on it chimes).

It was blowing fuses (5A) so I put a 10A in, which in retrospect was probably a bad idea, although the amperages for each fuse weren't listed on the fuse box as with some other vehicles (I don't think it was night time when this happened). Anyways the problem persists althought the 10A fuse hasn't blown

I don't know if that blown fuse is even related to the dash lights, Does anyone know the fuse number and amperage for the dash light circuit. All the gages the cruise Control and head lights work. It's highly unlikely both bulbs burnt out at the same time.

Last thing is I have no idea on how to get the dash off, I see lots of advice on getting the dash off of newer cavaliers for stereos but not older ones for gages. I'll keep looking. but if anyone has any help I thank you in advance.
