Re: engine weight for a 300zx drift car
Your picking the wrong car for a drift car to begin with... It can be done, and George (1viadrft) drifts his on a daily basis...
But with that said. The Zed isnt an ideal dorifto car. The mounting would be tough to get right with an SR... Plus why would you go from Cast Iron 222hp engine (VG30DE) to an aluminum block 205hp engine... Even with the weight loss, it makes NO sense.
There wouldnt be ample enough power to even get the car sideways.
If you want a good drift engine set-up, and it is even cheaper than an SR20DET clip. Go with the RB20DET. They slide in pretty good, with custom mounting, driveshaft, radiator, and fans.
It would be ideal for a dorifto Zed... George is dropping in an RB25DET.
