How many miles are on the truck ?? Did it just start making the noise ?? If it just started making the noise it could be cause for concernHowever it could be just a fuel filter restricting flow. When is the last time the fuel filter was changed ?? Some pumps are just naturally noisey while others are not. I had 160k + on mine and it was almost always noisy and I actually replaced it because the fuel gauge quit working. I put in a GM pump and it is noisy too. Some people buy Marvel Mystery oil and put some in the gas tank and claim it helps. Two things that are hard on and will shorten the pumps life are not changing the fuel filter and running the tank down into the red on the gas gauge because the flow of fuel lubricates the fuel pump and with low or restricted fuel the pump gets hot. One other thing is if it does need a new pump no matter what anyone says, Buy a GM pump (AC/DELCO). If the pump stops working when you are out somewhere and the truck doesn't start , First listen for the pump (even if it is a new pump you will still hear it) if there is no noise go under the truck and bang the tank. Many times this will get the pump to start one last time, Just don't shut the truck off until you get there. This is probably more info than you care to read, But I tend to get on a roll.
