Alrighty here...let's try explaining things like this. Let's suppose you were to do the wiser thing and buy an SHO to boost. For 8,000 dollars after numerous Driveline modifications and whatnot, you'll still have a Taurus running low 12s. I don't even want to imagine the pain involved in doing that to an SLO Taurus. Point is there are many better sleepers for less money than what you would pay to make yourself a 12 sec. Taurus, with better reliability to boot. Face it, a FWD 4 door family sedan is a bad starting point for a performance vehicle.
Here's just a few excellent sleepers for you.
1. GMC Syclone/Typhoon
2. Buick Grand National
3. Ford Taurus SHO
4. Dodge Spirit R/T
5. Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
6. Pontiac Bonneville SSE-i
Lookie there, every one of those cars is boosted, with the exception of the SHO, with varying degrees in availability and price range. There are so many great sleepers out there, why go to all the trouble of starting out with such a poor performance platform compared to these cars, not a single one of these cars is slower than a 15 sec. car, and it's easy to pull a boosted car deep south of that for very little money.
