it is a good idea to change the accumualator. It's ind of like the filter for your AC system. If you use ESTER oil, all you have to do is buy the retrofit fittings. but do you have acess to a recovery system and a vacume pump? When you open up an AC system, you should pull a 45 min vacume on the system. after you recover the r-12 that may be remaining in your system.
