Thanks for the quick response, but unfortunately I don't understand it. It's kinda humiliating not to understand an eight-word sentence of one-syllable words. (And I can't imagine why I said the housing was "metal" -- well, I guess there's metal in there somewhere -- anyway, let's just overlook that.)
The dome light looks something like this:
. There appears to be a small notch in the edge of the lens on the side opposite the switch -- not really visible in the image, but it would be near the white highlight on the left. There may well be a clip next to the switch, but I don't understand "clip" or "next." On the lens next to the switch? Where the switch actually enters? Is the "clip" something to be pulled or squeezed or pried or what?
