R391GT1 is actually quite different from the R390GT1
Aside from being an open-top like many of the other new LMPs, the R391GT1 actually has a different powertrain from the '97-98 R390GT1. It uses a VRH50A, which is a 4997cc (5.0L) displacement V8 non-turbine motor. Unfortunately, the change didn't seem to help as the R390 seemed to have performed much better (all 4 R390s placing in top ten, Le Mans 1998) than the R391. However, the R390's 3.5L turbocharged V8 was not laid to rest in '99 and powered the french open-top Courage C52.
