Canada varies from province to province.
Ontario is fairly typical, where we have (I think) 15 points. You can lose 2 pts for disobey a sign, (stop, yield, etc), 20 km/h over is 2 pts, and goes up from there. 60 km/h over is 6 points, careless driving is 6 pts.
Drinking: blow .05 over and its a 12 hr licence suspension.
blow .08 or more and its a manditory immediate 90 day licence suspension (whether you are guilty or not) and criminal charges.
I am a bit hazy on some of the details, as I have not lost any points in 22 years, and I have had no tickets in 15 years. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough.
