Timing

Tallon,
1. Take number 1 spark plug out
2. Take cover off that covers the timing belt (at drivers side end of motor. I pry the cover out from under the valve cover so I don't need to take the valve cover off........Your choice.
3. Take a milkshake straw and place vertically in and on top of piston number 1.
4. Take 17mm socket and ratchet, place on harmonic balancer (bottom pulley on front of engine crankshaft). Turn pulley counter clockwise, watching straw go up or down on top of piston. When straw is at its highest, that will be TDC.
5. Look at timing belt pulley at the end of the valve cover .This is another reason you took off the timing belt cover.
6. The pulley will have two straight slots that at TDC, will line up even with the top edges of the head.
7. If this is not there........you may have jumped timing 3-4 notches on your timing belt.
8. Before you start this check your spark plug wires to the distributor.
9. If you wish to do more mechanicing a good HELMS manual on the CRX will help considerable.
