What has to be changed out?
there might be some differences, but the swap should still work. Basically there were 2 different types of blocks up untill 1995. the "W" block, which after 1992 was a L35 balance shaft motor and the "Z" block which was a non-balance shaft motor.

The main difference which might exist is the fuel injection setup and the intake manifold, however swapping them over shouldnt be a problem either since the the real "Vortec" engines didnt come out until 1996, thats the better heads were put into production and the bolt patterns and block castings were all changed.
