I agree with Tannee and Setanta
Firstly....I think all asian parents are like that....they always want you to become a doctor, or something like that which they class "respectable" and earns a lot of money. A lot of time they want you to achieve things which they themselves could not achieve in their own lives. You will need to talk to them about this. I know its hard....but think about it, its your life, if you do what they want, you will end up unhappy, and regretting that you didn't study what you wanted in Uni, etc.
I also agree with Tannee that the HSC or UAI whatever you call it now, is made out to be more than its worth. I look back, and I didn't even need it to get into Uni, and I didn't get out of Uni what I thought I would anyway. Its very overated. It is just a way to get into Uni...Dont stress too much.
