Hey chaser29,

If the engine speed is changing without any change in your throttle - check both the Idle air control valve and the throttle postion sensor. The IAC is easy to check. It is located betweent the manifold and the air cleaner - closer to the manifold - it can be disconnected while the vehicle is running. The truck's rpm should drop off. When you reconnect it the Rpm's should rise back up. The tps is harder to check - Do you have a mulimeter? - Both the IAC and the tps are each around 50 dollars at autozone. Good luck!
