Re: Door Locks
wish i had low budget cure but there isn't one. several things go wrong with E32 front doors. sounds as though you have several problems. L/F door you'll need a 'lock cylinder repair kit' AND, most likely a door handle...........the cams inside the lock cyl. wear or break AND the bracket for the lock actuator breaks [which is part of the handle]. unfortunately theres no repair except replacement.
R/F door sounds like just the lock cylinder is bad. this MAY get to the point where the 'override mechanical release' will no longer work! ! THIS was designed into the door system so you could unlock the door if the battery went dead. when you normally unlock the car with the key, there's no actual mechanical connection to the door latch, just to the actuator and microswitches on the lock cylinder.
i think fixing you pass. door first would be the most cost effective way but BE SURE who ever does it knows what there doing! I've even seen dealership tech's ruin new lock cylinder kits by putting them together wrong.....best fortune to you.............jb.
