When you get your hands on some letraset. Try adding your black or dark grey in step 12 on the backside of the paper. This way it won't intrude, and you can continue to add color on the top side without the black beating it up.

No, it is all done with markers. I did boost the contrast +10 in Photoshop. This was only to try to get as close as the original as possible, I put the paper up to the screen and they matched pretty OK. For the darks, I have a number of layers on everything, even on the blacks.

That is a very interesting point, I'll look into trying the backside thing.

I don't draw old cars, sorry
