I replaced the compressor in my 92' Taurus which has a 3.8 V6 in it.
I also replaced the line that is from the dry line that leads to the condenser.
I'm know that my lines are contaminated because the freon when tested came out black. Also to make matters worse while reving up the engine I noticed that the compressor made a whirling noise and threw sparks at me
I believe that the system had R-12 in it which was completely drained and vacuumed prior to getting some 134a in the lines. I also think that the compressor didn't have synthetic oil in it and thus contaminated the lines.
My question is, if I take the car to a shop to get the lines "resotored" (emptying out the lines and flushing them completely) , chop the line to replace the filter, and put some new 134a and oil. Or should I just replace the rest of the ac line dryer and all and add 134a. Or just restore, change filter and use Freeze-12 instead. I can get some Freeze-12 around here localy.
So what do you guys think?
