I've got half of my torsion bars done!

I started with the driver side and had no problems. But my X has been sitting outside and I've been driving my wife's car for 3 days because I haven't finished the passenger's side yet. It is a little tight and hard to get the top nut loose and tight without romoving some of the exhaust. I hope it's not just my truck. It is a '01 which might be alittle diferent than the '00. Any help or suggestions? I'm on my way out there now to check it again and try an open ended wrench.
