I had this problem on an old 86 Camry. I would have your alternator checked before doing anything else. If you have a digital volt/ohmeter you can do this yourself. Jump start the car. Then with the car running set the DVM on 20 volts DC and touch the 2 probes to the posts on top of the battery. If the alternator is working, you should see a reading of around 14 or more volts. If it is 12 volts or less, then your alternator is bad. Replacing an alternator is an easy do-it-yourself fix. A rebuilt should run around $100.
