First of all, let me say that I have been doing auto electronics for 12 years. Factory alarms are crap. The car will start with the alarm going off as long as the key fits in the ignition. If someone was to jimmy the column let's say, with a screwdriver it would not start. Factory alarms lack so much; shock and motion sensors, IGNITION KILL and the ability to upgrade to remote start, window roll up, etc. For the piece of mind it is worth it to get an aftermarket alarm system.
