In my opnion owners should get new shocks as soon as they get off the dealership driveway, but that's just me.
Do you mean the Rancho 9000's? Unless you "really" need the adjustability of the rear shocks I wouldn't bother. Most people seem to use only two settings if they use them at all.
Xterra owners are pretty loyal to the Bilsteins and I never hear any complaints. Not to mention their increase in driveability and comfort will make you regret not replacing the OEM ones sooner.
