If it fucked her bearings it was cheep and unbalanced. The pulley is unsprung weight, meaning it has nothing to do with the balance of the rotating mass. If the pulley is not properly balanced then it will throw off the rotation and kill bearings.

I would suggest to ditch the 1.5, They are not power making engines. Get a B16A if you want simple swap with more power, or go like B16 or H22 or something if you want more complicated. You could throw every aftermarket part at a D15 and it wont get to 180hp.
