Wow, man that is a mouth full,,, sorry to hear about hte deer.how was it ?.
The rear ends on these things do whine ,don't ask me on my 95 i pulled it out and put a dana 44 in and it has been good so far.
As for your mentore ,he is correct! I would put a cooler w/thermistat up in front of the radiator. this will give it good air flow. and it has room in front of the airconditoner condenser.
