Re: 97 blazer wont start. Please help, its my only ride.

I had the same problem with my 97 blazer. Here is what you need to do. Go get yourself a fuel pressure gage and check the fuel pressure on your engine. Looking in the Chilton's manual for the 97 S-10 Blazer under Fuel Testing page 5-10, item 7. "Monitor the fuel pressure with the pump running. The pressure should be 60-66 psi (415-455 kPa)." If your pressure is below 60 psi. IT WILL NOT START!!!! If it don't start, hook up jumper cables to another vehicle and then try and start it, this normally give the fuel pump more electricity therfor upping your fuel pressure and allowing it to start. I think you need a new fuel pump. But first try the items I told you about.

Best of luck..

I assumed they would all go about the same time and was told it really only affected your emmisions and your mileage a little. so Ive left it for a while. Related? Is it worth buying a OBD2 scanner if your really broke. Please help, its my only vehicle and Im stranded. THank you
