Re: My Car

If the manifold is glowing and the car will not rev then odds are that there is a restriction in the exhaust creating back pressure and the heat. If There is a dead missfire then it could cause the problem but most of the time I've seen this as a back pressure problem. Will it idle? How Does it idle and can you rev it? If it stalls when reving, get a vaccum gage and check the vaccum when loading the engine. It shoulb be about 20 in"hg at idle and 12in"hg (+-4in"hg) loaded (part throttle) If the vaccum drops off down steadily to nothing as the engine is loaded then there is a restriction in the exhaust. Could be the cat or the muffler. Good Luck.
