I lowered my 89 gt 1.5 inches and the bottom scrapes on speedbumps and such a bit, so i'd say 1.5 is good, i wouldn't go much further than that. But then again the newer stangs might be a bit higher up..not sure though. Umm...Tools...A spring compressor will make the job a lot easier, but the job can be done with just normal tools and sort of force the springs out (it's harder and more dangerous though). The springs ran me up about $215 Canadian and me and my dad did it, so there was no charge for labour. Don't base everything on what i say though, get other opinions too, hope this helped.
