My 325e used to have the same problem you are describing. It gave all the symptoms of a cracked air hose, but after a while the alternator went bad. I replaced the alternator and haven't had the problem since then. It could be caused by any number of things, really- just start by checking the cheaper things before you move on to major part replacements.
