Yes, it fixed the problem. However, my mechanic charged me $180 to fix it. It was the switch in the steering column. Brake lights and turn signals work fine now.
Seems a bit expensive, but my peace of mind was worth it. I didn't like driving without brake lights and scanning for police cars to make sure they didn't pull up behind me and notice my brake lights out.
