I'm guessin it's something with your wiring harness, ECM, and sensors. DO you have all the sensors from a TPI engine? MAP, O2, TPS, coolant sensor, MAF, etc. I have sort of a similar problem swapping from a 4.3 TBI to a 350 TBI- using the 4.3 wiring harness.
