About a week ago, I aquired a stock OEM '00 Si rear swaybar, to put on my '00 DX coupe, not knowing if it would fit or, work right and what-not. During the week, I orderd the mounting brackets to hold the bar to the subframe, and got the bolts to attach it with. Knowing somewhat how the bar goes on, I decided to take today to try to install it myself. Pretty easy actually. I put the rear wheels on some blocks to raise the back end up a bit, so I could crawl in under there, and attached the brackets to the frame, and then attached the endlinks to the lower control arms, and viola! An inexpensive suspension mod.
Luckily the LCA's on all Civics (coupes at least) have pre-drilled out holes for the endlink bolts, so doing that part was a piece of cake! The brackets I had to order, ran me about $20 for the pair from my local Honda dealership, and my friend sold me the bar complete with the endlinks for $45. So for a total of $65, it's about the best thing I've done to my suspension setup so far. The entire install only took me about 30 minutes, which was quicker than I thought it would take, but well worth the $30 I saved if I would have had it installed at a shop like I was originally planning on doing.
So far, the bar makes the whole rear end feel a bit stiffer, almost as if stiffer springs were on, and even on stock rubber/rims, she corners a bit better, and faster too. Having a rear lower tie bar though, helps out a bit more too, to add to the package.
