Yeah, I think those are called detent rods, but not certain... Kris (whom I haven't seen on here in quite some time) replaced his not too long ago with a set from a junkyard...

As far as shutting the door and it being loud, you could always throw some dynamat in there to quiet things down. I've also noticed that my doors shut alot quieter since I removed the door-mounted seat belts and put in harnesses. another thing to try is that there are some round rubber stoppers on the edge of the door panel... By twisting them counter-clockwise (or anti-clockwise for the kiwis and aussies on the board) they will "unscrew" from the door allowing you to adjust them in/out as needed. Try adjusting them farther out and see if that works.
