yes it can be done! but to be frankly honest..just get the obd2, it has a better power output, it will come as a full swap obd2 ecu and all so there is no swaping of harness,ecu etc. to get it to run correctly and pass your emmissions standard testing. not knowing alot about cars, honda swaps especialy, you will encounter headaches either way ! but in the long run in a 97 civy you will be better off ( not to mention more happy with ) an obd2 b18. here is another question..which b18 plant are you looking into ? beacuse unless you plan on running a small and very low boost turbo later a b18b ls motor would be pointless and silly, at that point a GSR b18c motor would be a MUCH better choice for you....And If you didnt want to spend the GSR money then there is always the B16A2 civic SI motor and it will drop right in alot more hassle free.....always remember for the big spender there is always the B18C5 type R motor which would be nasty, but youd have to pay nasty
