In ways, You are correct. Street Racing is irresponsible. And it is dangerous. But there are those of us who will take a particular race out to the boonies where you're literally endangering yourself, your car... and maybe Farmer McCoy's Cow.
Although, that may not be as safe as going to the track. It's as close to it as you can get without having a christmas tree and EMT standing by.
Not all of us live within a easy drive to a track, I used to have one 5 miles away from me. Terminal Island Raceway in the Port of Long Beach. But it was closed, nearly... 9..10 years ago? Now my closest track is Irwindale Speedway. But that's only a 1/8th mile, so the closest 1/4 are Fontana Raceway. It's a good 40-50 minute drive. And it's not always open.
And the reason why we have a 'Street Racing' forum. Is if we didn't, people would post their racing stories all over the forum, cluttering it up. Might as well put them all in one spot.
As stupid as it may sound, Street Racing is a form of Motorsport. It's been around ever since the second automobile was created. And it'll never go away.
