You want a stiff rear-end of course. But you want a stiffer front to create better traction with the pavement. Also a very stiff front will majorly reduce wheel hop which is bad to a launch, and beats up on your axels as well. It's also easier to control a FWD car with a stiffer front than rear, because with a stiffer rear, it can come around on you when you least expect.
