I would'nt touch a clear coat with steel wool, stick to the lighter stuff and work up, I usually start with a body scrub like meguiar's, if that doesnt work you could try a clay bar or some rubbing compound (green), just remember GO SLOW you'll get it out you just dont want to take the finish with it ;P
