Re: with a 3000GT SL...will i be able to...?
Alot of people have done it to their SLs or base models. It's not looked down upon by any means, its just a job that requires a hell of alot of work, alot of parts off a vr4 and possibly a bit of fabrication. Some guys have done it and I think that's awesome. You are right, straight off you will have some traction issues, but not all go for the AWD, with LSD and a good driver the car can have decent starts and obviously wont have as much power loss due to the drivetrain, therefore it will be a better contender at higher speeds.
AS to the original question, the SL can hold it's own. It does low 15s/high 14s in the quarter mile, has 222hp DOHC engine and should take down plenty of other v6s, and kill 4cylinder hondas. And as said before there are mods that can be done to improve the power a bit.
If you really want to rape most anything on the street, get a vr4.
as far as supercharging an SL, I believe that some people have found a supercharger that works with them, but I havn't heard of a twin supercharged setup for them yet.
