head swap update
decided to swap heads and intake.
turns out the cam timing issue is no problem.
the timing chain has different colored links for the mating marks on the crank and cam gears so it lines up with no guessing.
The hardest part was removing the head bolts even with a two foot breaker-bar. I can see why you need to replace the head bolts, by the time you torque them off, if you were to reuse them you take a big chance of striping them when you torque them back on. I broke a 3/8 extension and twisted a allen socket on the first bolt and it didn't budge. However, there is a special Nissan tool for this but I didn't have it and ended up using a good allen wrench with a stout breaker bar.
The 93 heads, intake and exhaust manifold comes off and can be installed in one piece. My next step.
Now I am in the market for head gasket, head bolts and a front transmission mount,
And, if anyone is interested, the 99 heads, 99 intake and 99 exhaust manifold are up for grab's. Only 22k miles.
