I've got a 93 Cav Z24 Convert. with 56K miles. 3.1 V6 Automatic. I bought about a year ago.
The igniton module just went out. Car was running great...very responsive, lots of power. When the module died the car just shut off while driving down the road, no other symptoms. I checked fuel pressure (40lbs) Check Engine light did not come on, but I checked for codes anyway. Nothing. Removed the module and had it tested. Showed DEAD. Bought new, (Weller Brand-AutoZone) reinstalled and car fired right up. Runs smooth... Idle is slightly lower than before, maybe 1-2 hundred RPM. The car is definitely lacking the power it had. I rechecked the part number of the module. Checks OK... I even asked if there was a special or high performance module for a Z24. Nothing...I have two questions. Could someone have previously put a better/High Perf. module in it ? Or is it possible the module is not quite right ? It acts just like the timing is slightly retarded . What does everyone think?
