Re: Any one know any small mods for first Gen Probe?

[quote=90CelicaGTS]. Do u hv full three inch exhaust(really helps the turbo). QUOTE]

a 3" muffler maybe, but a 3" exhaust will not fit on the 1st gen probe, there is no room for a 3" exhaust!

Heres a starter with some free mods:

Rip out the A/C, to do this you will have to lose your Power Steering or replace with a smaller belt to get your Power steering back.

Also you can take off your cat and gut the inside of it out completely, (DO NOT) take this to a muffler shop and ask them to do it for you, cause they WILL without any questions turn you down. The insides of the 89 cat will take u a good 15-20 min to clean out cause it is very thick.

As for the a/c block, when you rip this off, and take your car out driving, your turbo will make a really odd sound when it spools.. Do not be afraid the turbo is not broken, you are just getting all that power to the block just no belt to spin.

You could do a little port and polish, if you have a friend or u know how to do it, otherwise this will cost you some good money.

for a little more speed, like me you can completely rip out the back of your interior ie: back seats, flooring, siding.

As far as free mods thats all i can come to mind right now.

As for paying for parts:

Intake: for the 1st gen tends to be a little more spendy then other cars due to the fact that you have to buy the adapter that hooks up to the MAFS.

Exhaust: like said above dont bother trying to buy and install a 3" exhaust cause it will not fit on the car, muffler yes.

Header, cams, pulleys, turbo upgrade, maybe a lil Nitrous

Nitrous you need to watch very closely cause you will be running nitrous into a turbine engine so watch out!

As for the Turbo, key thing to watch out for: these turbos are not air cooled turbos, yet oil cooled turbos.. Therefore they dump oil into the turbo and burn up the oil, so for doing this your car will run a little more oil then a normal car ie: running the drag strip you will need to check oil cause the car will use some good amount of oil.

New injectors are also a very good thing, perhaps some new plugs and plug wires.. Depending on what mods ie: nitrous that you are putting on will depend the difference between running hotter or colder spark in your plugs.

If you are looking for more of a 1/4 time and dont mind the pain, as another free mod that leads back to the weight reduction, you will not be DOT certified but you can take the actual metal bumper that is under the plastic bumper off of the car for less weight, in this i would only recomend doing the rear cause the metal on the front helps weigh down the front end for better traction on take off.

Hope this has been of use for you,

If you have any questions on this matter please email me or pm me, if you would also like some links for places to get these parts for your car please respond!
