Here's my top ten. (Sorry GPL not rated here.)
1) SCGT (PC). For it's editability and incredible mods.
2) Stunts (PC). Most revolutionary racing game ever. At it's time, unbeaten by anything.
3) F1 Challenge 99-02 (PC). Not as revolutionary as SCGT, but it's currently the best commercial racing simulator only thanks to it's open source physics.
4) Max Payne 2 (PC). Great story, graphics, physics engine, you name it. Good editability too, many mods available.
5) Superbike 2000/2001 (PC). Only motorcycle game ever to claim some sort of realism. Too difficult to edit though..
6) NASCAR Thunder 2004 (PC). Almost as good as NR03. Wins because this game is editible, just as F1 C. Very few mods out currently leaves it behind F1 C.
7) NASCAR Racing 2003 (PC). Most realistic racing game ever, misses out due to poor editibility and lack of 3rd party modifications.
8) Gran Turismo 1 (PS). Was the best game of it's time really, mainly due to it's excellent optional car parts and great races.
9) Live For Speed (PC). Suprisingly similar to Gran Turismo 2, but you can't modify cars, it's currently only in it's beta form hence the position. Physics are without doubt better than GT3 and almost certainly GT4 too.
10) Gran Turismo 2 (PS). Big upgrade over GT1, almost as good as SCGT as a retail boxed product, (when SCGT is completely stock). SCGT though too has rally and other things when downloaded.
