Would a different rear really be necessary? If I recall correctly the the rear ends and the drive shafts are the same size. Yes, the V6 rear end may be a little weaker, but assuming you don't totally abuse it should hold up. I'd think that the tires would loose traction before the gears would break. (assuming you don't have slicks)
