You, my friend, have no clue what you're talking about. First of all, as someone who fag races frequently, it's "nitrous oxide" or "N20," NOT "nos" or "naws." NOS, or Nitrous Oxide Systems is not the only god damned brand that makes n20. We have a certain movie to thank for people referring to it as such.
Second, nitrous is one of the most harmful things you can do to your engine if you're a moron. If you know how to use restraint, tune your car correctly, and use your brain, then nitrous is less deturmental to your engine than forced induction. The "extra rpms that it exposes your engine to"? Nitrous does not make your engine have some supernatural amount of RPMs, it just makes it go through the ones it has quicker. It just makes you burn more fuel and air in a sort of scientific method. More fuel and air burnt equals more power, so if you don't tune it right then it will blow up of course. This is true for a turbo. Get it too big without proper tuning and it will turn into a disaster. Hell, even a fuel pump could be dangerous if you do it wrong.
N20 is a very good solution for people running titanic turbos like the Y2k or whatever. A quick spurt and no more lag. Wanna get 20$ all night long at a street race? Bring your stock civic, equiped with a dry 50 shot. It will take the majority of mustangs and modded ricers you see. It has so many practical uses, and it just pisses me off when people talk shit about it without knowing. /rant.
