Yea, the wires are pretty fragile. They don't take well to bends etc. I have known people that have had to re-splice a cut and severally bent wires, etc. So wires inside the housing though, can be harder to get at and do this too. I am guessing that's where your bent wire was. Awhile ago, when my car came back from a body shop after my fender was fixed (I was backed into), the wires that connect the angel eyes to the parking lights was bent and broken. I had to re-spilce it, etc. Pretty easy and it fixed my problem. I was annoyed that they were carless and that I had to do it, but still.
