I believe it is CLOSE ratio, meaning the gears are relatively close together.
6 speed is generally a better transmission because it has nice low gears (123) pretty standard 4th and 5th, and 6th is an overdrive gear.
my T56 has a .62 6th gear, which helps me get great mileage on the freeway.
they are usually more expensive however.
