Re: P13 vs P28
Yea the p72 is the gsr ecu which comes in 2 version obd1(94-95) and obd2(96-01). The cams on the h22 are too big for the p72 ignition and fuel maps resulting in a dip right around the 5k rpm range by vtec. This would not be a good street choice because of stop and go driving. However, in a drag race, the p72 is good because the powerband is higher than the p13 so after that dip you get, you will pull harder, longer. A hondata programmed p72 would be the best for all motor and turbo, they will get rid of that dip with thier maps and pull better top end, but its pretty costly. As for the P28, it comes from an obd1 92-95 honda civic ex vtec. the ecu is good if you have turbo or have changed your dual butterfly intake manifold to a single butterfly manifold. The iab is not able to function like the p13 or p72 because the d16z6 motor does not run like a h22 or b18c1. you will lose torque or power if its not "tuned" correctly. So here's the thing for crj lll, if you have a basically stock h22a4 with bolt ons etc..go P13. If you go turbo with your stock intake manifold or go hondata with stock intake manifold than P72 is your best ecu. If you changed your intake manifold to a single like venom etc.. than p28 with tuning to h22 maps. Remember to get an obd1 p72 if you go that route and a coversion harness for your obd2 motor. You will throw a code 12 EGR code if you go with a p13 on a 97-01 lude because conversion harnesses does not have a wire to function it. Hope this helps guys.
