I have a black vehicle that has water spots or acid rain that's etched into the clear coat. I've tried using Meguiar's Medallion paint cleaner followed by their number 7 pure polish. I then put number 26 high tech yellow wax on it as a final step. I did all this by hand only. The spots are still there. Will only a rotary buffer with some compound get this stuff out? What about a clay bar?

Well, with every thing you have put on it at this point I cant see clay getting to the water spots real easy
If your at your wits end with the spots and dont mind the work. Bucket and rag wash it with two or three drops of dawn dish soap. This will strip the wax. Then clay it & rewax her. Otherwise yah pay a shop to cut & glaze it.
